Our absolute favorite ornament this year and a perfect representation of what 2020 was for us! We spent the first part of 2020 planning for our trip, and then we were “Rolling on a Prayer” in our #basecampx from early June to early December. 22 states and 9 national parks in 6 months. What an adventure it was! If you’re ever in Vegas, it’s worth the 2.5 hour drive to Grand Canyon’s west rim! We left early, arrived around 11am (the time changes so you lose an hour but gain it back), and we spent a couple hours exploring Eagle Point, Guano Point, and of course THE GRAND CANYON SKYWALK! Such a cool experience but no photos to show for it because they don’t allow electronic devices and I opted not to pay for the souvenir photo. Yesterday, on Friday the 13th, we visited Nightmare Rock, in Inyo County, California right outside of Lone Pine. It’s an awesome thing to see if you’re in the area, AND climb on! Yesterday, we visited Wild Willy’s Hot Springs right outside of Mammoth, CA and it was an AMAZING experience! You will follow a 200ft path from the parking lot to reach the two hot springs pools. The pool we’re standing in is the deeper and warmer of the two. I would estimate the temperature was between 100-102 degrees. The perfect way to warm up on a cool November day! The hot springs are free of cost and completely natural. Wild Willy’s Hot Springs is one of many hot springs in this area of California, and I would certainly say it’s a must-visit! Yesterday, we drove the Nevada portion of The Loneliest Highway in America (US Route 50). We did nearly run out of gas but we didn’t get too lonely! Fun history fact - back in the 1850’s long before it was called The Loneliest Highway, it was called the Roaring Road. The Gold Rush sparked a caravan of wagons headed west along the thruway. It would sometimes become so congested that miners and their families would have to wait days before they could access it.
